SAWDUST

Album artwork for a band called MVSICA. I like the use of scratch-off ink showing that it doesn't just have to be confined to scratch cards. Nice clean geometric design as well to the typeface on the front.

ORISHIKI CLUTCH BAG

Now, I'm personally not a fan of clutch bags... for the reason that I don't need them. But I am however a fan of the art of Origami. This is a really amazing piece of product design using both of the for-mentioned. I haven't seen any design utilising origami that hasn't been architectural. It's nice to see it applied to everyday objects. ORISHIKI have also designed a spectacles case and a suitcase in the same style and both they are amazing to look at as well.

FONT 2010 & FONT 2011

I thought it'd be a nice idea if I said which font I found myself looking at and using a lot in each year so I came up with this FONT award thing I guess.

Steelfish - 2010
Last year was massive for tall slim fonts, I found refuge in Steelfish which I believe is a rip off of the Pittsburgh Steelers typeface, if not it's very similar. I'm not usually a fan of font copys but as this wasn't so evident, I used it in a lot of logo work.

Dekar - 2011
I found this after getting into Behance and finding myself in need of a nice, clean body text typeface. I like how angled the font is and also the fact that it can even be used in a logo or as sub heading type. It's a perfect all-rounder.

I BOUGHT #1

I thought it would be a good idea. It was. These books are great, I especially recommend Colour Mania. I'm a massive fan of omni-colour design.
My design section on my bookshelf is really starting to get some big names on it. I'll post a picture once I have my new bookshelf put up. Ikea up in this!

Cyclo - ID (EP)

Ultra-simplistic design for a 12" vinyl. Nice clean look.

Moleskine Bags in Hyper Stop Motion

Old Faithful Shop

Banner Logos, my guilty sin.I'm serriously thinking of bringing out my own version of "This Year I Will Try Not To" because i'm seeing trends (guilty; that I really like) and we're only one third of our way into 2011. Zine time?

Fruita Blanch Stationary

Really nice Stationary set and identity. I'm a real sucker for monochrome logos that look well designed and this really is the cream of the crop for this year so far. They'll probably be a lot more of these...

North Herts College Internship

I'm working for North Hertfordshire College at the Goldsmith Centre for Business in Letchworth at the moment on a temp contract helping out with their workload. The place is great, there's no boundaries to design with them. No interview either. They went by a recommendation of a friend of mine. Shocking.

Jawbone's Jambox Speaker

So there's this sweet little speaker called a Jambox. Linked to any device (preferably Apple apparently) via blue-tooth. It has pretty good bass as well and rivals some of those small daisy chain speakers that some people go for over docks and stuff. It comes in four colours/designs and they all look quite modern. It also has the world's most hipster advert in the world (see here). All the actors most of been paid in American Apparel discount vouchers.

Jordan Walker - Jacob Bailey Office Walls

A pathetic pair of stop motion gifs documenting the creation of the two illustrated walls I worked on at the new office for my internship company Jacob Bailey. Both designs were created by myself apart from the random sketch work on the second wall which my boss wanted incorporated into my design. Painted freehand only using a projector and some masking tape for those long straight lines which are meant to be the pipes on the wall, contextualised, trippy.

JANUARY TIP #2

When I'm no longer an intern, I shall wear this badge with pride god dammit

What we do is fucking cool.
It's like being a footballers but a lot less grass, and more computer work, and no falling over, and we font get lots of women, or cars, or media coverage, or money... scratch that we're not footballers at all.

Euro RSCG C&O - EDF: Clap Clap

Cracking double page spread here. I really didn't think that you could do too much with print adverts to make them amazing. I've had my head up "Ambient Advertising's" ass ever since two years ago.

“This double page print is destinated to celebrate the success of the EDF athletes in 2010: 16 medals at the World championship, 8 medals at the Europe championship and 9 world champion titles.”

JANUARY TIP #1

Proof read your work.

You might be a touch typist when it comes to facebook chat and MSN but you're certainly not when the guy reading what you write is paying you.

I made that mistake.

Scissor Sisters - Invisible Light

Exploitation themed music video by Scissor Sisters directed by Dilly Gent. I learned that scissor sisters is another term for lesbians. This was a profound moment in my life. It also took me 3 attempts to spell the word lesbians correctly as I was giggling too much to type properly.

Starbucks Rebrand 2011

Oh holy shit. They're ruining everything.... get over it. This brand identity is a really good, clean and modern turn for 2011 which I hope is a trend setter unlike some other things... I posted late in 2010 about the work of ANTREPO and how his self initiated work of simplifying well known brands was pretty much the best piece of work I had seen that year. Well looks like it could take off. I really want to see more brands that simplify their logos. Not just well established brands but maybe new comers too just having nice, simple, clean logos.

Also... who knows? (Small LOL here)

Dentsu London - iPad Light Painting

This has been out for a while and I didn't really think about posting it but I keep coming across it and it still blows my mind. A really awesome use of shutter speed settings on cameras and using and iPad. Sweet idea by Dentsu London

Jordan Walker - Jacob Bailey Furniture Poster

The place i'm interning at is moving to a smaller office in Zetland House, Shoreditch. The place we're in at the moment, The Tea Building has a huge office space. Like seriously big so back when Jacob Bailey moved into here they thought it'd be cool to buy sofas and bean bag chairs which, to be honest is pretty awesome but the Zetland House office is pretty much half the size so we had to shift the old furniture. I got asked to make the poster and for once I actually got completely free reign with design which I was glad with and this is the out come. Shamefully it's not hand drawn outlines but a bit of pen work in illustrator... shame that.

Two Thousand and Eleven

New Year. Let's do this. Ermm resolutions. My new years resolution is to take better care of my teeth because the night before 2011 I had a dream my teeth were falling out so I got freaked out and bought floss and shit. As for my design resolution. more illustrated hand drawn stuff would be stella. Oh and more use of 3D, I'm talking old school blue and red here, not your James Camereron blockbuster. My christmas was great got a lot of good stuff and New Years from what I can remember was pretty good. Nothing like forcing a cab driver to bypass from the route home and go into the McDonalds drive through. Shame the fare wasn't paid in Egg McMuffins. 2010 was a good year. Nothing Great, nothing special. Lets just get on with things.

Oh as for news. I'm making a website. Will come out late February probably. Also how's the new blog theme?
