ALEXANDER LIS - NIPPON CONNECTION

This guy seriously knows a strong brand and art direction. Even the colours work so well. Two colours I thought I hated but work so seamlessly in this project. The trend of folding paper was quite an underlying one, never massively took off and never got too big yet designers were aware of it as a trend. It works really well in this project, especially how it allows the videos to show all the sponsors logos in three waves, concealing the logos to reveal the next set and so on. Clever move.

JORDAN WALKER - SWEENEY TODD POSTER

Poster I did experimenting with type treatment and also fabricating environments. Placing together stock images and making it look like it was a composition.

JORDAN WALKER - BRIDGING THE GAP COMP

This isn't an advert or anything, it's just so I can show my dad that I actually do stuff at work instead of sitting there with my thumb up my arse for eight hours a day.

CSU STUDENTS - OPPOSITES ATTRACT

The 18 students graduating from The California State University have got together to produce this eye catching design for their up and coming graduates show. Ultra modern and clean design that just looks brilliant  The website is a little clever piece too with a movie combining two of the students faces at a time in conjunction with the linar design shown throughout the colateral.

Really like this.

JORDAN WALKER - BRIDGING THE GAP

I've been wanting to show this for some time but wasn't allowed because it wasn't released/built/finished.
This is a website that I designed for a sub sector of the London 2012 Olympic Games called "Bridging the Gap."

It's main focus is to boost employment for security staff at the games next year and I was put in charge of art direction for it. I've loosely based my design on the existing geometric London 2012 design but given it a stronger linear design to reflect on a strong controlled propriety of a security force.

The most annoying part about this project was that the branding for the website was done already. I had no say on the design of the logo which really bugged me. I hated the logo. Still do to be honest. Secondly, when you visit the site it, it has this horrible header on the top of every page, again something I wasn't allowed to change which was equally frustrating, so I just scrolled down for the screenshots because i'm smart like that.

Visit the site here.

GREG DURRELL - CANADIAN OLYMPIC TEAM BRANDING

This is a huge post I realise and i'm sorry.

The reason being, these are 6 of an 86 page booklet stating the brand guidelines, history and construction of the Canadian Olympic Logo designed by Greg Durrell.

The book itself is fantastic, a nearly completely duo tone book with huge red , black and white dominance. Great use of historical imagery that almosts creates a hidden timeline constructed from pictures alone that generates a story in this book.

The branding is simple, effective, you can see, sadly, that there's been restrictions made by the client no doubt. You get an eye for this when something loses its awesome appeal. He has these images of the canadian maple leaf made souly out of lines and then you look at the final branding and it's rather... simple... almost just plain. Nevertheless it is a nice project and his other work is great too.

Old Faithful Shop

Banner Logos, my guilty sin.I'm serriously thinking of bringing out my own version of "This Year I Will Try Not To" because i'm seeing trends (guilty; that I really like) and we're only one third of our way into 2011. Zine time?

Jawbone's Jambox Speaker

So there's this sweet little speaker called a Jambox. Linked to any device (preferably Apple apparently) via blue-tooth. It has pretty good bass as well and rivals some of those small daisy chain speakers that some people go for over docks and stuff. It comes in four colours/designs and they all look quite modern. It also has the world's most hipster advert in the world (see here). All the actors most of been paid in American Apparel discount vouchers.

Starbucks Rebrand 2011

Oh holy shit. They're ruining everything.... get over it. This brand identity is a really good, clean and modern turn for 2011 which I hope is a trend setter unlike some other things... I posted late in 2010 about the work of ANTREPO and how his self initiated work of simplifying well known brands was pretty much the best piece of work I had seen that year. Well looks like it could take off. I really want to see more brands that simplify their logos. Not just well established brands but maybe new comers too just having nice, simple, clean logos.

Also... who knows? (Small LOL here)

Dentsu London - iPad Light Painting

This has been out for a while and I didn't really think about posting it but I keep coming across it and it still blows my mind. A really awesome use of shutter speed settings on cameras and using and iPad. Sweet idea by Dentsu London

Jordan Walker - Jacob Bailey Furniture Poster

The place i'm interning at is moving to a smaller office in Zetland House, Shoreditch. The place we're in at the moment, The Tea Building has a huge office space. Like seriously big so back when Jacob Bailey moved into here they thought it'd be cool to buy sofas and bean bag chairs which, to be honest is pretty awesome but the Zetland House office is pretty much half the size so we had to shift the old furniture. I got asked to make the poster and for once I actually got completely free reign with design which I was glad with and this is the out come. Shamefully it's not hand drawn outlines but a bit of pen work in illustrator... shame that.

ANTREPO // A2591

Seriously. This year has been sick for design but right at the end of the month when I'm struggling to find the stand out design of 2010. This comes along and leaves my jaw on the floor. It's so simple and probably so easy also but it just looks so damn sick. There's a few more of these on the website linked below. I really wish that brands had the balls to make their new products design-savvy and make them nice for a change instead of throwing all sorts of effects and graphics on their products. Pointless. Apparently in Australia they're actually going ahead with a nice clean re brand of them cigarette brands. If I see any pics I'll keep you posted. I like that because like a friend of mine said about fag packets, "You don't have pictures of liver failure and jaundice on beer bottles do you?"
