AUGUSTO ARDUINI / GUIDITTA BRUSADELLI - NERBO

Great branding by Italian designer Augusto Arduini and Giuditta Brusadelli for a coffee shop. I've seen a lot of these backgrounds that have little icons tiling across and really like the look of it. The colours work perfectly too.

JOHN BARTON - TERRALEC

Really nice monotone stationary set by John Barton. Love the use of packing tape in the branding too.

ALEXANDER LIS - NIPPON CONNECTION

This guy seriously knows a strong brand and art direction. Even the colours work so well. Two colours I thought I hated but work so seamlessly in this project. The trend of folding paper was quite an underlying one, never massively took off and never got too big yet designers were aware of it as a trend. It works really well in this project, especially how it allows the videos to show all the sponsors logos in three waves, concealing the logos to reveal the next set and so on. Clever move.

JAY-Z - BROOKLYN NETS IDENTITY

The title is serious. Jay-Z apparently designed this. If so I have to give props to the guy.

I posted a while back about Gaspard, one of Justice making a poster for a gig. It seems musicians are delving into the world of design. This is the reverse of what i'm doing. Has to work somewhere along the line.

ABSTRAKT - CORPORATE IDENTITY 2011

Really nice and simple logo design by Abstrakt. Reminds me of V&A's logo and the simplicity in that.

NICOLE MEYER - 10,000 LAKES

I saw this a few months ago, added it to my (virtually redundant) cargocollective feed and forgot about it. Saw it pop up on ffffound and instantly thought, "Christ, it's got big," Nicole Meyer has been redesigning and creating signs for lakes all around America simply stating "Lake logos have a tendency to be, well, fairly ugly."

They're all amazing and she's been doing one a day for... well, quite a while now.

CSU STUDENTS - OPPOSITES ATTRACT

The 18 students graduating from The California State University have got together to produce this eye catching design for their up and coming graduates show. Ultra modern and clean design that just looks brilliant  The website is a little clever piece too with a movie combining two of the students faces at a time in conjunction with the linar design shown throughout the colateral.

Really like this.

JORDAN WALKER - STUDENT CREW LOGO EVOLUTION

This is the many stages I went through with one of my worst clients to make a logo for "NHC Student Crew" It was tough but I'm glad I went though all of that because the final result was well worth it.

JORDAN WALKER - KLAYPEX CAFEPRESS BRANDING

Oh yeah... ooops

I did this last week for up and coming dubstep duo Klaypex. This was basically a perfect opportunity to try out HTML and CSS.

Basically, designed the header and buttons and made everything functional.

I got into contact with Klaypex about 3 months ago after seeing this video:

Visual effects were done by Sam and Nico of CorridorDigital who have a massive subscriber base anyway and got this video a million views in no time. All music was done by Klaypex and was even said at the end of the video with a link to their personal webpage with all their current LP's music uploaded for free. not only that but they were advertising their free LP on their website as well which I downloaded straight away. I liked the music but saw that their marketing side was laking so I simply inboxed them asking if I could help. I thought that the message would be lost under the sea of "BRO SICK MUSIC BRO" messages so you can imagine how surprised I was when it said this:

Been talking to them for a while, got to speak to them both on skype. Really nice guys. A lot more work up in the mix so i'll keep you poster.

All this and i'm still working on London 2012 as well.

2011=Busy

JASON LITTE - ONE DEGREE

I blogged about Jason Little almost a year ago now (Link here). I saw this piece of work a while back and thought it was very understated, alsmost too understated to post up here as inspiring but I came across it today and just thought the way he's presented his brand guidelines for his branding of the company One Degree was quaint. This idea of a plain CD being incorporated into a design on print has been stuck in my head since I first saw this a year and a half ago. It'll definitely be put to use by me at some point.

PTARMAK - URSA MAJOR BRANDING

Austin based designer Ptarmak brand Vermont based mens skincare company Ursa Major. Really simple design that encapsulates the history behind Ursa Minor, a constellation.

"In Greek mythology, Zeus (the king of the gods) lusts after a young woman named Callisto, a nymph of Artemis. Hera, Zeus' jealous wife, transforms the beautiful Callisto into a bear. Callisto, while in bear form, later encounters her son Arcas. Arcas almost shoots the bear, but to avert the tragedy, Zeus hurls them both into the sky, forming Ursa Major."

Not your everyday soap story.

The book that they can sent out is traditionally bound which is rare these days but a really nice touch. The design holds the angles from the logo throughout the pages too. It's always nice to see thought behind typography.

JORDAN WALKER - STEVENAGE EDUCATIONAL TRUST BRANDING AND VISUAL IDENTITY GUIDELINES

Branding for Stevenage Educational Trust. The whole swoosh thing was a joke, it's so cliché... it's so cliché they used it.

I personally think the branding guidelines look better than anything else to do with the logo. You can download that here.

GREG DURRELL - CANADIAN OLYMPIC TEAM BRANDING

This is a huge post I realise and i'm sorry.

The reason being, these are 6 of an 86 page booklet stating the brand guidelines, history and construction of the Canadian Olympic Logo designed by Greg Durrell.

The book itself is fantastic, a nearly completely duo tone book with huge red , black and white dominance. Great use of historical imagery that almosts creates a hidden timeline constructed from pictures alone that generates a story in this book.

The branding is simple, effective, you can see, sadly, that there's been restrictions made by the client no doubt. You get an eye for this when something loses its awesome appeal. He has these images of the canadian maple leaf made souly out of lines and then you look at the final branding and it's rather... simple... almost just plain. Nevertheless it is a nice project and his other work is great too.
